The Beauty Blogger Tag and 50 Followers Giveaway

Hello! I feel like I haven't blogged in ages but if you follow me on twitter then you might have seen that I have been away on holiday. I did schedule some posts whilst I was away but I wanted to have a little bit of a break. I arrived back this morning to find out that I had hit 50 followers on bloglovin. Arrgghhhhhhhhh! < That was pretty much my reaction! I can't believe that I have 50 followers and I am so grateful to every one of them. In order to celebrate I wanted to do the Beauty Blogger Tag and then a competition. I hope you enjoy it and once again a huge thank you, you have all made me so happy!

Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?

I have been blogging for about 3 months now. I have been reading blogs and watching youtube videos now for about 2 years. When I finished my A Level exams at the start of the summer I was left with loads of time and Skinny Jeans was born from that.

Whose blog did you fall in love with first?

The first blog I ever read was Sprinkle of Glitter which is written by the lovely Louise. I had watched her youtube videos and noticed that she had a blog. I loved her blog so much and started to become a regular reader. Through Louise's blog I started to read Zoella's blog and through that it kind of expanded into me reading all the well known bloggers blogs. When I first started to blog and joined bloglovin, the first blogs I followed were What Molly Loves and littlepieceofbeauty. I still read their posts first before I read any others, their posts are so good and I always want to go out and buy whatever they review.

What was the first blogosphere hyped about product that you bought? Was it worth the hype?

I think it was the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Yes, Yes, Yes it is so worth the hype it gets because it is so bloody AMAZING!

What are you five favourite things about blogging and being a Beauty Blogger?

1. Other bloggers- Once I had got my blog up and running I joined twitter and through that I have met some lovely bloggers. The blogging community is so lovely and everyone is always giving each other advice on products or blogging in general.
2- Own personal space- I love having my blog to rant when a product hasn't done what it said it would do or to rave about a product that's amazing. Its my own personal space to write about what I want. It also gives my family and friends a break from listening to it, haha.
3- Reading about other products- blogging is a great place to read about new products or products that have been out there for a while but you just haven't seen. I trust the opinion of every blogger I read as they are all such a honest bunch.
4- Excuse to buy millions of beauty products- I have found that being a beauty blogger gives me the excuse of buying 50 lipsticks that are the exact shade from different brands just because I want to try it out and review and compare it. Although this isn't always great for my bank balance, it's amazing for my makeup collection.
5- My blog- I am so proud of my blog and I can't believe that I get any comments or have any followers. To think that I have been able to create something that I am proud of through blogging is the best feeling ever.

What have you learnt from being a Beauty Blogger?

I have learnt that if you want to do something then just do it. Whether it's starting up your own blog or writing a post that you want to write then you should just jump in and do it. The beauty blogging community is so lovely and welcoming that if it is something that your sat at home wanting to do, then go ahead and get involved.

What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?

Enjoy every minute of starting out your blog and even if you don't get the response you were hoping for straight away, stick at it and prepare to work hard.

What are your top 5 makeup brands?

1. MAC
2. Rimmel
3. Bourjois
4. Sleek
5. MUA for some real beauty bargains

Recommend your top 5 beauty products....

1. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
2. Any Soap and Glory skincare product
3. Revlon Lash Potion Mascara
4. MUA nail polish in Pistachio Ice Cream
5. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

Competition Time (woooooooooo!!!)

I have been thinking for a while about what I wanted to do for my first big follower milestone. I had thought about doing a giveaway but I just didn't think it felt right to do one at the moment. So I am super sorry if you clicked on this hoping to win some makeup goodies. I will definitely be doing one of those types of giveaways in the future but for now I have something better (I hope!) to offer. For my 50 followers giveaway/ competition I am offering 4 of my followers the chance to have their blog button on my blog for a month after the closing date of the competition. I have wanted to have blog buttons on my blog and I would really like for them to be people who read and enjoy my blog. I think blog buttons look super cute down the side of a blog and I am always clicking on ones that really stand out to me. I am in know way trying to make my blog seem bigger then it actually is and I hope it doesn't come across that way. I would just really love to add something to my blog and I want to add some of my followers to the side of my blog. I know some of my followers might not have blogs of their own and once again i'm sorry if this is restricting to just blog owners. In order to enter you have to be following my blog on bloglovin and google friend connect, however you can also earn additional entries as well. The giveaway will end in a weeks time and I will contact the winners on the 9th or the 10th of September. Enjoy!

How to Destroy Your Bank Balance in 1 hour....

Hellooo, as you can probably tell from the title, I have been shopping. I have had my eye on all of these beauty products for ages and it just so happened that there were some pretty good deals on, so I had to pick them up.

I don't really want to go into too much detail about the products as I will review most of them later on and I don't want to bore you all, haha. So lets have a look at what I picked up...

I started off by heading to boots where I picked up some of the Maybelline Baby Lips. I had been looking for these for ages and it just happened that they had the three I wanted in stock and on a 3 for 2 offer. I picked up Peach Kiss, Pink Punch and Hydrate.

Peach Kiss, Pink Punch and Hydrate- £2.99 each

I also picked up a large Johnson's Baby Shampoo as I love to use it to deep clean my makeup brushes. It was such a bargain at £1 for a large bottle so I couldn't not pick one up as I am always using it. I also read a post recently that said how good it was for damaged hair so I am looking forward to seeing if it has the same effect on mine.
On offer- £1
I also picked up two of the Barry M gel nail polishes. I love these nail polishes as the finish they give is so good. I wasn't planning on buying any, as I have a huge amount of nail polish so definitely didn't need anymore but they were on offer so how could I not. I've had my eye on these two shades for ages and managed to pick them both up for £6, so how could I not get them.

Blueberry and Greenberry

Lastly, I stopped by the Bourjois stand and they were having a 3 for 2 offer so I had to pick up some of the products I have been dying to try. I have wanted the famous 'chocolate' bronzer and the cream blushers for ages. Everyone raves about these and I had just run out of my Maybelline bronzing powder so it seemed like a perfect time to make a purchase. I also picked up one of their new Colour Boost Lip Crayon in the shade Orange Punch. I had heard about these and I love the colour of this one. I am also going to be picking up the Peach on the Beach one as soon as it is back in stock.

Powder Delice de Poudre in shade 51

03- Rose tender

Orange Punch
I hope you enjoyed this haul. As your reading this, I will probably be laid out in the sun on my holiday.

Don't forget you can follow on bloglovin, twitter or through google friend connect. I also wanted to apologise for the terrible quality of the photos. My camera wasn't working and my phone isn't the best at taking photos. Thank for reading :)

I Love Me Some Baby Lips

Arghhhhh so excited. I have a huge lip balm obsession so you can only imagine how excited I was when it was announced that the Maybelline Baby Lips were coming to the UK. After weeks of waiting the date of there release finally came and I rushed down to my local highstreet beauty stores only to find that they were not stocking them yet. I was so disappointed and I know you probably say there thinking why didn't she just order them online, well I wanted to see the exact colour choices before purchasing. So after a few more weeks of waiting and my constant trips to annoy the staff in my local Boots, I finally got my hands on some.

The packaging is extremely cute and make paying £2.99 for a lip balm reasonable. I love the brightness of the packaging and I think all the shade names are so cute. I picked up three of these little beauties as Maybelline were running a 3 for 2 offer, so how could I not. I picked up two of the tinted ones and one of the normal ones.

Peach Kiss, Pink Punch and Hydrate
The products themselves apply really nicely on to your lips and I found that they left my lips feeling super soft. Although the two tinted shades don't leave huge amounts of colour on your lips you are left with a subtle shimmer of colour. I have found that applying the plain one, I have the hydrate one, before I apply any other lip products really helps to not dry my lips out. The big plus about these is that they smell AMAZING.

Peach Kiss and Pink Punch

Overall I think these are great value for money and I really hope that Maybelline bring out more tinted shades which ideally have slightly more pigmentation.

Have you tried these yet?
Would you go for any of these shades?

My First Time....Trying Revlon Products

Helloooo, now I know you might have just read the title and thought how has this beauty blogger not ever tried a Revlon product before! I know, I know and it's not something I am proud of, haha. If you live in the UK then you will know that Superdrug is one of the main places to buy highstreet (drugstore) makeup and beauty products. I love Superdrug as they have always got some AMAZING deals on.

So I was wondering through Superdrug when a large 2 for £10 banner caught my eye above the Revlon stand. One of the beauty products that I have been dying to try for ages is the Revlon Lip Butters and so I couldn't not go over and pick one up. Included in the deal were all Revlon lip products, nail polishes and mascaras. I picked up the Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon and the Revlon Lash Potion Grow Mascara in Blackest Black.

This was such as an AMAZING deal as I picked up products worth £9.99 and £7.99 for only £10 and therefore saving £7.98. So I basically got the Lip Butter for free.

Now on to the products and I am so impressed with both of them. The mascara leaves my lashes looking really long and I hardly need many coats to get this effect which stops my lashes from ever looking clumpy. The packaging is so nice and I really like the wand. The Lip Butter is so good. I had read so many reviews and they deserve the hype they get because they really are a products I can not fault. The colour I picked up is a really nice subtle red and the colour lasts for ages. These glide on to your lips and leave them feeling really smooth. I will definitely be picking up a couple more shades whilst the deal is on.

I also wanted to put a quick note down here to say that Skincare Sunday will appear slightly later this week.

Have you tried any of these products?

July Favourites

So July has been such a good month, not only have my pay checks been a lot larger due to extra shifts but I also have spent loads of time with some of my favourite people. Regarding beauty and makeup favourites this month, there haven't been too many and I'm sure you will recognise some of them from post on my blog this month.

1- Gillette Satin Care Olay Sensitive Shave Gel: I have been really enjoying this all the way throughout the month. England has had such lovely summer weather this past month which has meant that all the summer dresses, shorts and skirts have come out of hiding. Although in girl world this means only one thing and that is to have supper soft shaven legs. This shaving gel leaves your kegs feeling super soft and although I sill use a moisturiser after, you probably wouldn't need to.

2- Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden Daily Spa Escape Mandelular Sensuous Body Souffle: This is a really nice moisturiser, especially if you get really bad dry skin.  I use this on my legs twice a week and they always feel super soft for days after. It smells really nice and isn't too heavy of a moisturiser. I often find that some moisturisers can be really heavy and hard to work into the skin but that's not a problem with this one.

3- Barry M Nail Paint in Berry Ice Cream: This is my perfect summer pastel nail polish. I love Barry M nail paints, the formation is really good and they are such a bargain. I wrote a more detailed post on this nail paint which also included the other shades in the ice cream collection which you can see here

4- Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Celestial: These are so AMAZING! I'm sure pretty much everyone has heard of these but if not they have the colour of a lipstick and the shine of a lipgloss and they last for ages. What more could you want in a lip product? The shade I have is a gorgeous nude pink and leaves a really natural looking stain on my lips. I have worn this so much this month and am definitely going to be picking up more shades.

5- 17 Wild Metallics Cream Eyeshadow in Wild Nude: This is basically the same as the Maybelline colour tattoos apart from they are cheaper and I actually prefer the colour choices of the 17 ones over the Maybelline ones. Wild Nude leaves a nice natural nude shimmer across your eyelids and the staying power of them are really good. At £3.99 they are a bargain and a makeup bag must have. After trying this, I wouldn't ever buy a Maybelline colour tattoo over it.

6- Real Techniques Expert Face Brush: Earlier this month I devoted a whole post to my new Real Techniques brushes which you can read here. I'm not going to say much more then this is quite possibly the best makeup brush in the world!

So those are my favourite beauty products from the last month. July has been one of the best months of this year so I am sad to see it end. However I have lots of great things planned for august and i'm sure i'll find loads more beauty products I love.

Don't forget you can follow using the buttons at the top :)

Skincare Sunday #2

Hello, another Sunday which means it's time for Skincare Sunday! So lasts weeks topic was scrubs and the lovely Jessica, who writes the blog gingerlypale, was the first person to get involved with my new feature and I am really glad she did. Read below what Jessica's favourite scrub is and to read what mine was then click here

 --------------------------------------
As a beauty blogger, I know just how important it is to cleanse your skin thoroughly in order to prevent any unwanted blemishes or spots from cropping up on your face!
One of my all-time favourite face scrubs has to be Soap and Glory’s ‘Scrub your nose in it’. I’ve been using this product for about six months, and I don’t think my skin could do without it now!

I love the tube-like design of the bottle which stops you from wasting any product, and also how the scrub itself smells very minty and looks very minty too- almost like a more girly toothpaste! Soap and Glory advise that you ‘apply a pea-sized dollop to a damp t-zone, massage in circular motions, then extend out to the less clogged places on your face and rinse well and follow with moisturiser.’ This scrub can also be used as a mask if you leave it on for three minutes longer- talk about convenience in a bottle!

The scrub itself is nicely coarse on your face, and you can definitely feel the grains scrubbing your face as you use it, which makes me feel as though it’s being properly cleaned. Since I’ve been using this scrub, I’ve definitely noticed that my skin has become a lot brighter and healthier looking, and I’ve seen less nasty blemishes as well, so I guess this does exactly what it says on the tin! I don’t use this everyday as I think it may be just a little too coarse for daily usage, but twice a week is absolutely perfect.

Although there are a lot of amazing scrubs out there, this one is perfect for me and has become a bit of a Holy Grail product! I picked it up for £7.50 which is definitely pricey compared to some brands, but considering you only need a pea-sized dollop each time you use it, mine has lasted forever. I would definitely recommend it as it has worked magic for me!

Firstly I just wanted to say a big thank you to Jessica for getting involved. I loved reading what her favourite scrub was and I am definitely going to pick it up next time I go shopping. Before I tell you what this week's topic is, I just wanted to tell how you can get involved. If you want to be the next Jessica, then send me a email to lovebeautystudent@gmail.com to show your interest, If you don't want to be the guest blogger for that specific topic but you would like to be involved then send me an email with your ideal topic and I may contact you to be the guest blogger in the future.

So.......drumroll please....the topic this week is masks. This can be anything from face masks that you peel off to masks that come in a tube. I think these are a really fun way to cleanse. As much as I love the masks that come in different colours and flavours my favourite mask at the moment is the Simple Kind to Skin Deep Cleansing Face Mask. It leaves my skin feeling super soft and it is perfect for my sensitive skin. It's such a bargain and using it twice a week has really improved my skins condition.

I hope you enjoyed Skincare Sunday #2 and let me know if you want to be involved  Even if you don't want to be the guest blogger but you have a favourite mask then let me know in the comments below! Don't forget you can follow on bloglovin, google friend connect and twitter :)

Work The Colour, What A Bargain!

Hello :) So I am writing this pretty late due to the fact I can't sleep because it's so frickin HOT! I like heat but heat on a night is not so good! I was reading back through my blog the other day and I can't believe it's been so long since I actually reviewed a makeup product, oops! I recently finally picked these two products up after months of build up, especially if you follow Collection on Twitter, as their has been a lot!

I love my eye palettes, my collections is always growing and I love to create different eye looks. However recently, due to lack of time, I have been neglecting to use them on a day to day basis. This for one is not good as my palettes haven't been getting any use but I have also noticed a huge difference the staying time of my gel eyeliner has without an eye shadow as a base, as it just hasn't been staying as long. Although I love me some shadows , it was time to find something quicker and easier to use on a day to day basis. When I saw these advertised they instantly reminded me of the Rimmel Scandleyes Sticks and I loved those so I thought i'd give these a try as they are slightly cheaper at £3.18.

However I was lucky enough to pick mine up on the Superdrug introductory offer and they were only £2.50 but I would definitely pay the full price for them. They are so easy and simple to apply and the two shades I picked, leave a nice shine across my lid without being to heavy. I picked up Vanilla Sky and Vintage Blush. Vanilla Sky is a really nice cream colour, which looks really good on it's own but I have actually been using it for under my brow bone and in the inner corner to highlight. Vintage Blush is a gorgeous pinky gold colour and I have been wearing this so much. These Eyeshadow pencils are so easy to work with as they blend really well. The staying time is quite good, though I did find that if I was wearing them for more then 6 hours they did start to rub off but they are so easy to apply that this didn't really bother me.

There are 6 shades that you can pick up and I am so impressed that I am going to pick up the other shades that I like the look of. They are such a handy thing to have in your makeup collection and they are such a bargain too.

Have you tried these new Eyeshadow Pencils?
If so what are your favourite shades?
Don't forget you can follow on Bloglovin, google friend connect and twitter and all the buttons are at the side and along the top!
